I think things are getting back on track as far as getting creative goes. I’ve been working on new Bryce works, trying my hand at writing again, and someday I’ll get back into communicating with my long-distance friends again that I’ve not written to in many a season. Today is my “Friday”, so I’m feeling quite good about that. I also acquired 2 new music videos from my wonderful friend Dean yesterday, so now I have a face to put with a couple of names I’ve been listening to (P!NK and Blu Cantrell). I’ve come to the realization that children eat more than most parents may think, so *whoosh*….there goes the food budget again. Ah well, it’s cool….it’s great to have that feeling when you get home that there are all those people there always so glad to see you….kinda gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Now I know why my parents were always glad that I was OK if they were ever looking for me (yeah, I was bad at that ‘checking in’ thing too) – they wanted to see that glad face when I saw them since I was always glad when they came home.
On the website front – I’m getting ready to unleash the new photo gallery, so hold on to your hats, and keep your seat belts buckled, folks! It’s gonna be great!
Today is a great day all around! It was nice and warm when I went to work, so I was able to break out some of my spring wardrobe, although today I was in my red & black ensemble, which is funny, since my supervisor and I once again matched – except the same difference as last time…she had on black shoes and I had on my red patent pumps. I’m looking forward to Friday, as I always am, since I like my second part-time work quite a bit. Pretty soon, I’ll be doing more work on the store site, which hopefully will bring in more business. I got some really cheerful E-mail today, so that helped a great deal as well. Oh yeah…..I’ll be doing more additions to the site as soon as I get more time to just sit down and tap it out. One thing that was weird today was that I fixed my friends’ computers using programs I have used for many moons – and which I have never had ANY problems with – and less than 24 hours later, they are hosed again! I’m thinking “operator error”, but I can’t be sure, and I don’t have that much free time again for quite a while…..too much on my plate right now, and I have to learn to prioritize a little bit. I still amaze the gals at work, since I usually wear higher heels than they do, which is unbelievable since usually they are the masters of the heeled domain….guess not for much longer *grin*!
I can’t believe I’m getting excited over home re-decorating, but it’s happening! I’m looking forward to the painting, sawing, hammering…all that. It’s gonna look great when it’s done because it’s going to be the way we want it to look! I think it’s because I’ve been watching so much “Changing Rooms” and “Trading Spaces”, and it’s just corrupted my fragile mind! LOL! I re-did my friends’ hard drives on their PC’s yesterday (or feat else they may throw them out the window), and I stayed too long, so now I’m in the doghouse yet again – I just can’t seem to win these days for the most part. I need to find that balance between ‘family time’ and ‘my time’, but my detector must be on the fritz, because I still haven’t found it. After 5 years, one would think I might have gotten it right by then *sigh*. As my friend Chris says….I’m working on it.
Currently, I’m in the middle of site redesign yet again, only this time it’s going to be done in a more pleasing manner. By now you are seeing the current motif, which is a bit more gothic in the color sense, which is what I’m aiming for. At the office, I have pushed the envelope farther than I dreamt possible. I have worn 7″ and now 8″ platform heels with no resistance from any co-workers or managers, so I can say now that I have broken the platform barrier at work. Yayyyyy!!!! Okay…now it’s time for bed. Got 2 more days of work left in this week, don’cha know……
Today was a rather amusing day at the office. The ensemble of choice today was black pants, bright red shirt, black jacket, and 4″ red patent pumps. One of my friends at the office as she was coming out said she was blinded by the glare from my ruby slippers (patent qualifies as a gem?). I had the same reference from a couple other ladies, to which I commented “I keep clicking them together, but the teleportation chip inside of them must be on the fritz or something” which got some welcome giggles. The other interesting thing was that when I sat down, and my supervisor came in, she and I almost matched – except my heels were red and hers were black (hey….9 out of 10 ain’t bad!). My friends in the UK and here in Denver think I’m a brave soul for wearing my clothes the way I do, but I figure that it’s high time I lived life on my own terms and I wasn’t going to let society continue to dictate how I lived. I’ve worn heels at work for over 3 months now, and I figure if they had a problem with it, I would have been told long before now, so there is no excuse! I have succeeded in pushing the envelope at work as far as I have, and I see no need to push beyond that. I have gained what I have sought after.
I’m working on a new version of my site, which should be done soon – should be interesting. I’m just trying to get back into my creative groove again, and it’s uphill work to be sure (Ground Force would be proud!). I think it’s all that time just droning behind a computer at work that has dulled my mind, and I need to get back into focus, and I don’t think a firm slap would accomplish that. My friends are very cool at work still, and I look forward to seeing them every day. Each day I spend with them, I feel better about myself. I guess I should count my blessings every day. The weekend is coming up, and I’m feeling excited about Friday since I’ll be working at Rave’s again that day….she’s such a kick to work around and talk to! My friend Chris has been trying very hard to get me to go out and about, and I really should soon, as it’s something I want to do as well. I’m a lot more comfortable with myself and who I am, so the problems there are nil. I’m also trying to come up with some new ideas for our team at work, incorporating things I have found on TV and at anime conventions, so that should prove an interesting mix. Perhaps it’s time for one of those nice nightly walkabouts like I used to do….yeah….that’s the ticket.
I can safely say now that I have incorporated my sense of style and fashion into my everyday wardrobe, which is fine with the people I work with (I haven’t received any complaints yet!). I just upgraded my system to Windows 2000, and it’s running swell for now. Some problems with the online store site I’m working on for my friend Raven have been fixed, so that’s a huge relief – now if no other problems come up, then I’ll be fine. Now to find some more summery clothes for the warmer months – perhaps a nice flowing skirt or something, since they are coming into mainstream style for the guys anyhoos. Yeah….that’s the ticket! Then again, I’ve never been one to abide by fashion ‘rules’, so they can just stuff it.
