Well, this years Turkey Day went over very well, and I was rolling in satisfaction (literally) after having SO much to eat that day! Went to see “Signs” with my friend Chuck, which was one of the harder movies to sit through that I’ve seen. The movie is GOOD – don’t get me wrong – but I get emotional at those types of movies – especially the sad parts *brings out Kleenex*.
I am SO glad I don’t work retail anymore…..those people can get PHYSICAL if you ever dare say they can’t have what they are demanding! OUCH! I’d rather face the hordes of the unruly from the relative safe distance of a computer terminal, thank you. It’s early for me to be off to bed, but I’m not feeling at my best, so I need to rest up for the next busy day of dealing with online gamers, day-traders, and all those people who just love to pound their ISP into the ground. Now where did I hide my Prozac??
This Thanksgiving went VERY well, spending time with family and close friends. I had the day off, so I could enjoy the time and relax – no stress at all…..ahhhhh….
I know today is now “Black Friday” – that mad shopping rush day that happens RIGHT AFTER Thanksgiving, and makes the people doing ‘customer service’ jobs want to curl up in a fetal position hoping the sucky customers will just go away! If it’s a limited sale, then there IS a chance it won’t be there when you arrive! Get with it…it’s not the cashier’s fault that the great deal evaporated before you got there, and yelling will NOT make it better! The most I’m doing today is grocery shopping and that’s IT…..no other shopping today, as I’m doing my part to ease the headaches on the retail workers.
The tree should be going up today, so that means Christmas is just THAT much closer! 🙂
I finally upgraded my old 8×20 CD-R to a nice speedy 48x24x48 CD-RW today, so now I’m very happy! I burned 615MB of stuff to a CD-R in just under 3 mins! Granted the discs only go up to 32x that I have, so that’s not too terribly bad – just gotta turn down the oven a notch or two. Found there is ANOTHER Hellraiser movie out – Hellseeker – so now I gotta track THAT one down. Just when you think you have seen the last one, they make one more. You would think I would have learned this after noticing that “Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter” would turn out NOT to be the last one. Come on….Jason X? Lemme guess….they’ll make it to 13 – THEN pull the plug.
One can always hope, right?
So far I’m surviving the ‘corporate jungle’ and planning on a nice, cheery holiday season. No, I am NOT putting up our tree until after Thanksgiving you cretins – that’s just wrong! I think the whole thing is over-commercialized. These days my heroes in life are Graham Norton, the cast of Changing Rooms, and of course, Daria! I got some updated emulator programs (had to go to foreign sites to get them – thank goodness Google translates!), so I’m up to 6 again.
Today was nice & relaxing, as we were doing E-mail all day today, which was a nice change o’ pace. I’ve been more relaxed since I have my weekends pretty much to myself (well, other than the family stuff that is, he he he he). Now I’m working on new sketches to put up on my site, so we’ll see how long THAT takes. I still can’t figure out how they get the “Bear” in “Bear in the Big Blue House” to move in all the ways he does, with the hands, the head, and face…..guess that’s just more Jim Henson/George Lucas wizardry. Gonna go see “Signs” next with my friend Chuck, so that should be fun too. No winter here yet, so I’m waiting on getting a sled. Darn Colorado winters….the snow never LASTS! Odd, huh?
Last night I was with my friend Chuck, and I did something I haven’t done in a very long time…sat down and put pencil to paper. I think it had to do with being in such an artist-filled room that night that had a lot to do with it. It was a feeling I hadn’t had in quite some time, and it felt good to be around the art energy again. Then again, Chuck has always been a good influence on me….she’s independent, artistic, and a mother too – all in the same shell. How often do you see friends who are that way? I made some pretty good sketches that night (although nowhere near as good as those I’ve seen there), so I still have a ways to go. I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.
I believe our apartment has got to be the weirdest structure imaginable! I tried putting up some shelves today, and there seems to be only one stud in the middle of each wall! How odd is that? This is in the bedroom – the living room seems to have them every 2 feet. I guess I’ll have to get some of those anchor screws or something for the sheetrock.
I have learned to watch my back around people these days, and I have also adopted a new rule in life….NEVER, EVER work for those you think are friends of yours – it NEVER works out and only goes sour on you. I gotta say this much though…it opened my eyes to quite a few things about certain types of people.
Well, it’s a couple days later, and I’m feeling much better – took a nice step back, viewed the sewer swill lady for what she was, and then got on with things. I’m now working on updating my fan club site for Mari Iijima, and then revamping mine again – adding more new tweaks each time that I find something useful. Work is going as it usually does, and gets more amusing every day, especially those who just rant for 4 pages and not saying what their problem actually IS. One would think that’s why you contact tech support….for help.
