UGH….living in close proximity of all these wildfires is miserable to say the least. Without my one window working, we end up looking like the inside of an ashtray when driving around, and that’s not fun at all….plus the fact we’re in an ash snowstorm all during this time. Who’da thunk it? Mid to late-October, and we’re in the 90’s! UGH! Give me some cool mountain air anytime!
I took a “mental health” day today, since I’ve not had a real complete day off in over 3 weeks, and it’s really starting to get to me something fierce….guess I just need a different evening job….or a day job that pays more than what I’m making now….but no sense in switching day jobs if we’re just going to move in under 4 months, right? Might not look the best on a resume.
I think if I have to endure the smell of hot dog grease on my clothes…in my hair…across my skin…for much longer, I may end up giving the fry vats my own version of “secret sauce”….*URP!* Now I know why I left the fast-food arena many moons ago…the smell of that OIL and GREASE! URGH! Most days I wish that little hot-dog dude would run across the street just in time to get smacked by a city bus *WHAP!*
Am I bitchy? Sorry….I don’t mean to be. Wait….why am I apologizing? OK…it’s been a long day, and I’m just getting over it. I do love my day job though….that one’s a real adventure!
I started a 2nd website to explore some different creative avenues, and to see what I really want to do with a site. If you’re in my E-mail circle, you know about it. If I missed you, then you might wish to ask.
The strikes going on around here are really getting fart-knockeringly irritating. The people who are striking against the bus companies are making more than most of us ever will, and yet they’re throwing a 2-year-old tantrum for having to finally pay for some of their health benefits! Oh, cry me a f**king river! You think it’s going to be free forever??? The supermarket people – same argument….GET OVER IT! Learn to shell out some for your family’s sake so you can keep them healthy rather than figuring out the paint job of your next SUV! I mean seriously….how many companies give out FREE health bennies? GET….OVER….IT, you seriously cheap-ass tightwads.
You talk about people going in to work while you’re striking being “scabs”? Well…those who are striking are “scabs” too! It stands for “Serious Case of Absolute Bullpucky”!
Maybe I’ll make this a feature article sometime…when I have two seconds to rub together between my two jobs…..yes….it’s STILL expensive to live next to the pond. At least I can drive there though, and don’t have to rely on the overpaid bus drivers….*grin*!
Well, even though the manager at my 2nd job says she doesn’t cut hours out of spite, I don’t believe a word of it. Over the past 3 weeks, they’ve been steadily decreasing with no end in sight. She said in the beginning I’d get at least 15 hours a week (bare minimum for my needs) and now I’m down to 11, which is totally unacceptable. So starting Monday I go out to look for another part-time evening job (oh joy).
My day job is going much better these days…I’ve even been mentioned in the company newsletter as being a part of their IT department plus being their webmaster….how’s that for finding unlikely stuff? Oh yeah…I mentioned that in the article below. OK..nevermind.
I’m still working on seeing if moving is going to be our best option, or just staying put. We went out to the ocean yesterday and as I was sniffing the fresh sea air, it was calling to me once again. Well….it IS one of the primary reasons for us moving out here…. 🙂 I haven’t heard much from my friends in Denver, although I’m not sure if it’s due to busy lives, or if I’ve been excommunicated. I’m hoping it’s the first option though….I do miss them quite a bit.
I remember when I was deciding between taking a job with Deutsch Bank that paid $13/hour, but had little chance of becoming permanent….or taking a job with Magic for $11/hour, but much more potential of permanency, and my gut instinct was to take the Magic job. Boy that has been paying off BIG time!
Not only am I being kept busy with my normal duties of scheduling appointments, doing billing, tracking payments, and running reports, but now I seem to be part of the IT staff as well! I helped out with the deployment of a brand-spankin-new server, getting it set up, and getting things ready for a huge transition coming up! Guess I found my element in one of the more unlikely places!
I’ve also been writing again – another chapter being written for my book (see my site for details), and thinking about what is coming up in the next few months. I still miss all my friends in Denver, as while it’s true that I have friends while AT work, I really don’t have anyone to hang out with when I’m NOT at work….which kinda sucks.
Well….I’ve made it this far, so I guess anything is possible. At least I found out the stupid CA car tax only affects cars 10 years or newer, which mine is ELEVEN years old! Whew! Just squeaked under that one!
I’m still trying to get that “permanent” status at my job, so that’s my big goal right now. Until that happens, I make no guarantees about ANYthing.
At least my art is prominently displayed on a company web page! Wheeeeeeeeeee!
