Well, here we are at the end of yet another year…and just what was it like?
I can honestly say it didn’t suck all that bad….it could have been much worse. Thankfully, I found a career with a nice degree of stability and it pays pretty freakin’ well – better than probably anyplace else up here. While I haven’t had the chance to make the jump to home-ownership as of yet, I’m still looking for the opportunity. Perhaps 2007 will have this opening I’m looking for.
I miss a lot of the friends I have in Denver and California, and I haven’t been as up to e-mailing as I have been in the past. I’m such a chatterbox, that I really should write more, but I keep allowing life’s little nigglings to get in my way. I just need to carve more time out of each day. I remember days when I used to write 20-25 page letters (partially filled up with doodlings), but I guess E-mail is just too sterile for such things. I guess the only way you can do that sort of thing is write it out, then scan it in and send it. I mean…who really sends things by *mail* anymore? I’m kidding! More and more things are getting faster and faster, and it’s like the world doesn’t want you to slow down to notice all the things you’re whizzing by in life.
The thing I find really weird is that not only things, but people are starting to do that as well. No one is willing to wait for anything – or so it seems. People want everything now now now now NOW, and anything less it “unacceptable” to them. Perish forbid they remember how they lived 10-15 years ago. Oh yeah…this is coming from the NEW generation of humanity (I weep for the future). Whatever happened to the old saying “stop and smell the roses once in a while”? Oh yeah….they can’t wait for them to grow.
So how has my own year gone? Well, I’m still in a good job, and have a decent place to live. I have the normal everyday happenings of a typical family – worrying about bills, dealing with sibling rivalries that would make WWII look small in comparison, and we have the times we go out shopping or doing whatever. It seems typical enough. I’m resolving next year to get my CCNA done one way or another, and possibly complete my A+ as well finally. It’ll just take setting time aside for such things. I am seriously overweight by my own estimations, which means I need to get more active again if I ever hope to drop any of it, not to mention trying to get more healthy stuff into me – life that fruits & veggies thing doctors always tell you about. I have some awesome friends that I have never met face-to-face in my life, and I hope to change that someday.
Life is an adventure, but you have to take it one chapter at a time. Here’s to 2007….may it bring us all what we wish for.
