Okay, I know it’s getting close to Halloween, but these things are getting pretty freaking annoying. I guess I never figured out how much so before.
You know what they are………they’re these seemingly innocuous slideshows or links that show you pictures to look at, things to listen to, or things to click on – you go through the little “maze”, and all of a sudden………..
Yeah…..that gruesome face jumps out at you, flashes, and yells…..REALLY LOUD.
I admit….I sent those….once. One of my best friends got it, and I really wasn’t thinking about the effects too thoroughly. Man, I regretted that one. Could have put him into a seizure, and that was not a pleasant thought. I got a nice reminder about that, so needless to say, I don’t send those anymore, and have sworn never to again.
I still GET them though.
What can you do to combat this? Best thing to do is mute your sound and click through the “maze” to see if any faces show up (not looking DIRECTLY at your monitor helps too), and if you don’t see anything, then it might be safe. The games and cool slide-shows are neat, and I do love getting them (please don’t stop!).
I’ll never forget the first time I got one of those. It was a link to a page where you were supposed to find what was “wrong” in the picture. It was a picture of a perfectly normal-looking room, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I was looking really close to see if there was something small I might have missed when……..
Yeah…..you guess it. THAT happened. I about fell out of my CHAIR in shock! That was my first experience with “screamer links”. Some people enjoy them, and to those – all the best. When you DO send them though, be mindful of sending them to people who have small kids or medical conditions….the results may not be to your liking if you do. Trust me on this one.
Now that that’s out of the way………wanna see something cool that I found?
