The Christmas season has come, and now passed once again. The decorations start slowly coming down, being put in boxes and bags….packed away for another year. The cards are filed away and put into whatever memory box people have for such things, and the wrapping paper takes up it’s alloted place in the local recycling plant and/or landfill.
People have renewed ties, spent time with loved ones, made contact with new friends, or spent the time in quiet contemplation of the past year. Blessings are counted, and well-wishings exchanged. Presents have come and gone, returned and re-sized, appreciated and loved by all.
All the people in this world spent the holiday in many different ways, based on whatever religion, cultural, or social circles they followed, and traditions were followed, mingled, or disregarded in favor of others.
It’s a time when the problems of the world seemed to vanish – if only for a day – in the warmth, caring, and love of others. Granted there were those who couldn’t escape the daily reality for that small pocket of bliss, but perhaps they’ll catch up with it the next time around. For all the overcommercialization that many have done in favor of trying to make the holiday season profitable for whatever reason, in the end, it means very little in relation to the emotions that go around on that most special time.
In this next upcoming year, perhaps more will remember the warm times and memories from this holiday, and keep them going throughout the next year until this time comes again. Happy feelings really need no season to show them, although this one sure seems to bring them out even more than any other.
Hope your holiday was a happy one.
