Where did THIS name come from???

I was reading the news the other day, and I saw something that gave me a real WTF moment.

I grew up in Billings (yes, shock I know), and I’ve grown up with Billings being called “The Magic City”. It has a sort of ring to it, sort of mystical in a way, as we have magically grown over the years, and now they have changed it. They spent a great deal of time, effort, and money to come up with this bold new concept that will supposedly revitalize our city and make it truly grand in this state – not that there is much else around right here.

So what did they come up with? What was the result of this grand plan? Oh you’ll love this one.

Billings: Montana’s Trailhead

TRAILHEAD???? Where in peanut-butter-on-toast left field did THAT one come out of? That just blew my mind that it took EFFORT to come up with that – and money? TAXPAYER money? That has got to be the laziest, most outdated name you could possibly come up with for this town! If you want to brand this place as THE backwater stop in the country that will never catch up to anywhere else, be my guest, but I thought that was the single most inappropriate title you could ever give this place!

No wonder everyone else in the country still thinks we use horses and buggies, and the sheriff patrols on horseback – we give everything nothing but OLD MOLD WEST NAMES!!! Big Sky – yeah – it’s big. Magic City – yeah, tht was good too, but TRAILHEAD? I want my taxpayer bucks back from that meeting. I can’t believe that our city council would cook up something this half-assed in a long time.

*sigh*…guess I’d better put the horse in the stable and go huntin’ coyote. It gets awful cold up here where we only have wood heat and insulation hasn’t been invented yet.

I think I need a stiff drink now…….
