I’ve had a blog for a while now. I first started it on my own website back in 2001. Then, some years later, I converted it over to a WordPress account. I also have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and now Tumblr.
Why do I sign up for all of these accounts anyway? Maybe something is wrong with me? Am I craving some sort of attention for some obscure reason? Well, actually no. I just enjoy writing and sharing my thoughts and ideas, as well as some links and other pictures (although I still don’t care for memes on the whole). Maybe part of it has to do with the fact that I have a good camera again, so now I can just snap what piques my interest and just show it out there for all to see – not that I have THAT many fans out there……..although I’ve been told more than once that I have more than just a few. Nahhhhhhhh……..couldn’t be!
I find these social sites kinda interesting. Pinterest has some cool pictures and links to some stuff I might not have known existed otherwise. Facebook of course keeps me connected to family and friends all over the world. I’m not sure how far I’ll go with Tumblr, since it seems to be another image sharing site kinda like Pinterest, but we’ll see. Oh yeah……I mentioned I have a YouTube channel, so maybe I’ll do up some videos and share them up there as well, but it’ll have to be whenever time allows.
Do I NEED all of these sites? Probably not, but in the location I live in, I try to make my own creative outlets wherever I can, and unfortunately, just having one media presence doesn’t seem to have enough – you have to make yourself VISIBLE in some fashion.
No, I don’t plan on being the next Angry Video Game Nerd, or Nostalgia Critic, or even Grav3yardgirl. I’ll just be me, and have fun doing just that. If I make a video sometime, don’t be surprised if the camera spontaneously combusts or runs away screaming – or even explodes. Maybe I’m just being too hard on myself there. I guess we’ll see!
Until next time, just remember what Oscar Wilde once said – be youself…….everyone else is spoken for!
