There is a reason I don’t follow politics – it sucks. I don’t mean just the news – I mean all politics suck.
Whenever I turn on the news, it’s all about one side bashing the crap out of the other with a blood-stained hammer, and it doesn’t even matter which side is doing it – red or blue – elephant or donkey (well, I think they’re BOTH donkeys!) – it just doesn’t matter anymore. Perhaps at one time it did, but nowadays, it really doesn’t matter.
I mean, it’s gotten to the point where starting in late summer, I pretty much DVR everything I want to watch so I can fast-forward past all of the political ads, or I end up watching Netflix or Hulu (too bad I can’t fast forward THOSE ads!) – or better yet, just going out somewhere. Let’s just look at the last track records, shall we?
Bush Sr. goes into office, and the democrats say everything he did was BS and just plain wrong.
Clinton goes into office, and the republicans say the exact same thing.
Bush Jr. goes into office – same mud-slinging
Obama goes into office – even MORE mud-slinging, probably because he made history being the first non-white person in the chair.
No matter what side of the fence you sit on, someone is going to be pissed about what the other side did because it doesn’t agree with what YOU think should be right. The other part of it is, Congress usually ends up being affiliated with the other side of whatever fence the president is on, and they will do everything in their power to undermine what the president is doing, or wants to do.
Did ANY of those past 4 presidents do ANYTHING that we will remember as being good? Probably not, and do you know WHY this is? It’s because the media THRIVES on negative press – they pounce on it like a lion on raw meat. Why make someone feel good when you can just piss them off?
So come on media – toss those ads my way. I can always change the channel to something more interesting.
