I decided to finally put a counter on my site today, probably for nothing more than just for me to see how many people come by. I’m not sure why I did it, but hey…I’m curious. There was a LARGE victory that I saw today…the guy who was butchering the McYukkies comics finally took down his twisted rip-offs and put up his own! I still won’t mention who he is though. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get some cheesecake and celebrate.

I found something disturbing the other day…or maybe I used to be too desensitized to notice, but I found, through a message board, that an online comic was butchered into something sick and wrong, and it left a bad taste. I can’t stand it when something is vandalized, especially when it’s art. Due to the people telling her to get over it, she took the one she posted yesterday down, but I hope she continues to draw, write, and inspire those who do original works to do the same. It makes me wonder what we have all come to when all we can do is draw attention to ourselves at the expense of others. Besides, the original was MUCH funnier…maybe the sick soul on the other end didn’t realize that since the butcherer HAS no life.
It’s been a fairly nice “weekend”, all things considered, but tomorrow I go back to work once again. A never-ending cycle, it seems….get up, work, come home, sleep….not much change in that, is there? That’s why I live for my weekends, so I have time to do the things I don’t during my “week”. One thing all teenagers should know is would be this: Enjoy the free time you have while you’re in school….before you turn 18. My parents tried to warn me that the real world would not have summer vacation and it’s a constant from day to day. Well….you know what? They were right. You have to CARVE your own free-time, and then you get to let the next generation know what you went through. Sometimes it makes those old stories you heard growing up a lot more believable, doesn’t it?
The high point of last month….well, there are two really.
One….one of my friends bought an item from my online store…the only sale so far, but hey, a sale nonetheless. I can’t wait to see how it looks when she gets it.
Two….I was able to exercise my fashion freedom around work under the guise of a holiday, so it was a better day all in all. Maybe someday the dress code will lighten up a bit. One can never tell. At least all my friends at work are comfortable around me, even though they all know, so that makes me feel much better inside. This is a feeling I would never have had back where I grew up. Yes…people DO move for a reason.
I’ve been getting useful information from some of the club owners here in Denver on how to get the ball rolling for my eventual show. I’ve been out of the “spotlight” since 1999, so I need to get some exposure again. I’ve also gained some insight as to who’s shows NOT to be in, so I can get some credibility as a performer, and then maybe places will allow me to set up my own show at their clubs. I’ll keep checking options to see what happens next.
Last night, being Halloween, I actually wore my biggest earrings and some heels to work, which didn’t cause much of a stir (if only they knew…well…most do there). The only question I got was one of my friends asking me how I could walk in those things. Hey…they were ONLY 4″ heels, not like the 6″ platforms I sometimes use *grin*. I love where I work since there are not too many stigmas there unless you’re seriously trying to be disruptive, which I’m not….I just try to be fashionable.
