I’ve been back a few days now and had some time to relax and regroup. All in all, it was a very enjoyable time! It’s been a weekend of some firsts – most notably my first trip up in an airplane of any type, and I rode 2 of them within the space of a week – that speaks volumes! Granted, it’s not something I’ll be able to do again for a while, but I can say it’s strictly a money thing – not that I’m afraid to get on them now (although you will not catch me in a turbo-prop or puddlejumper!).
I wasn’t quite sure how the room situation for David was going to turn out, but Ray was our knight in shining armor that came through for us and made it all work. We all had a blast being together, sharing good memories, and David also made some new friends there that I think will last quite some time. We didn’t need a lot of money to have a lot of fun, although it helped when going out to eat. Now mind you, I probably won’t order another seven-pound breakfast burrito again anytime soon unless I have 4-5 other people with me to share it with, but the experience was well worth the attempt.
I reconnected with Ray, Angelo, Murdock, and Robin – all of whom I haven’t seen in some time. I reunited with David, which was almost 20 years in the happening, and Dana, whom I haven’t seen in 25!
I will say that Sam’s No. 3 on Havana has an awesome supreme breakfast burrito well worth trying, and if you love Chinese food, go to L D Chinese Buffet down on Parker – both well worth your wallet’s attention.
At first, my goal was to go to NDK, but as the time approached, I realized that I filled in so much time with stuff I wanted to do, have done, and go see, that we just spent some time on Saturday on-site, and that was about it. I did see a HUGE amount of anime-related goodness, and saw a TON of people who were all dressed up in varying anime costumes – the one that stuck out in my mind was the guy who took the time to dress up as Schwartzwald from “The Big O” – that one, I’ll remember. Chris is getting way better at picking out clothing for his alternate persona, which is light years ahead of where he was, and we talked at length about our favorite and not-so-favorite video games as of late – so, shortly after I got back, I picked up “Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition”, which saved me a bit of green as opposed to downloading each of the 5 extra story modes.
Yes, the clothing I shopped for all fit into my suitcase, which was amazing, so now I have another complete outfit to wear, along with some fabulous new makeup that my dear sis Ray provided for me – bless his heart, so now I have some really good stuff to work with. Time to plop my butt down on a chair and practice practice practice! I so love makeup that will last you a VERY long time!
So in the end, ties were reconnected, new ones made, and some memories encountered that will last a very long time – that was the whole goal of going to Denver this time in the first place! I can now say also that I know how to get around DIA a LOT better than I used to, and the trip back was even smoother, being a larger plane, and again, Lord of the Rings was my best friend along the way – makes those trips FLY by! Literally!
Tomorrow is the last day of my vacation, and a new work week starts up on Sunday. Time to go and show ’em what I’ve learned! It’ll be another awesome week!
