Well, I put my ballot in the box the other day, so I did my patriotic duty to our country – hoping that the next president actually improves the quality of life in this country and doesn’t lead out down the same path we’ve been on for the last 8 years.
Suffice it to say, our country, as Gordon Ramsay might say “is in the shit – plain and simple”. We need to seriously look at what is wrong in our country and turn it around. I don’t think we’ve ever come back up from 2001. We used to be a proud people, and now we’re all shaken to our core, paranoid at what might happen, and slowly getting stripped of all our personal freedoms……
and people wonder why I am the way I am. It not only helps me to relax and be at ease, but it’s far better than stressing out over the usual mundane stuff.
I truly hope to God that the next leader will do some good for our country. I’m tired of being on this slow downward spiral. We need some positive change, and soon.
I went out today, and found quite the surprise. I thought my back window was dirty, but upon further inspection, it was not.
It was cracked – all over the place.
It’s this safety glass they made – that fractures into small non-sharp objects, and it was quite the chore to sweep up. We made our requisite call to the non-emergency police line to file a report, futile as it might be, as they might never catch the bugger that did it, but yeah….just made my day, let me tell you.
At least I have it patched with a plastic sheet & designer duct tape until I can have it repaired.
Oh such fun. Kinda like punching yourself in the ding-ding to offset the shooting pain in your arse.
I forgot what the initial “ow” of getting earrings was until last night, when I had them done. I haven’t had any put in in quite some time. I had 2 pairs for a while, but my bottom ones tore through due to wearing too heavy ones (skin’s together, but the muscle tissue below the surface is separated), and the top ones closed up – so I had 2 new ones put in tonight (one on each side), and next time I may have my old “top” ones re-done, since I can see where they used to be, and I can mark them for the person doing it.
I do love that Claire’s gives you a BIG-ASS bottle of antiseptic to take care of them with though! Nice touch! I do recommend a specialty place over your Wal-Mart or other discount place, as those people know what they’re doing.
Now for the 6-week turn-and-dab ritual…..then 2 more pairs to get done. I hope to have all 6 done by the end of the year – sparkling!
Well, after the ordeal of soaking off my acrylic nails and seeing what damage was done to the one, I’m on the mend. For right now, I’m being careful not to snag my side-split on anything that might tear it off, hoping to bide some time until it grows out and I can clip it off. I did manage to smooth out my nails enough to where I can paint them at least, so today it’s “Kyoto Pearl” by OPI with a nice clear top coat. I did get a buffer block to further smooth them out with, but I think I can manage. I’m re-learning to type yet again, but I’m getting back up to speed now that I’m typing like I used to.
I’m also now more comfortable with myself and my self-expression, which has made a huge boost in my self-esteem. Some look at me and think I’m bonkers doing what I do, but I really don’t care right now. Yes, I wear nail polish – it’s to keep my nails nice. Yes, I wear heels – it’s better than bloody sneakers. Yes, I have long hair – it keeps my head warm. I do what I like because it makes me feel better, and bollocks to those who can’t or won’t deal with it. As Pete Burns once said….I am myself. It’s quite funny actually….when we were moving into our new place, this quite inquisitive young man came up to me – probably around 10 or 11, and asked me “Can I ask you something?” I said “Sure, what?”. He asked “Are you a boy or a girl?”. I just said that I am a boy, and he then asked by I do my nails the way I do. I gave him as honest of an answer as I could think of……..
There seemed to be a light that dawned in his head that day. He smiled and rode off. Made my day, that’s for sure. It all comes down to personal choice. Life is too short to be stuck in a stodgy old mold – you have to embrace what makes you happy. I’m so glad I have a career at a place that is just fine with it, and in fact, has been very supportive.
Yeah…..it’s been a great week. How’s yours been?
I was doing well, trying to let my nails grow out so I can let the acrylic grow off, and then things would be right as rain, right? Nope….was not so lucky. I went to get my lunch from the freezer when…….
Bloody hell…..that hurt!
I made a nice-sized crack across the acrylic on one of my nails, but the pain suggested a deeper problem. I was planning on soaking the rest off anyway, so I went to the store and got some maximum strength acetone remover and a file. As I was clicking my way to the aisle and gathering my supplies, some nit comes by with a Halloween cat decoration, and asks me if I want to pet his cat……wtf? Guess some in this town just can’t leave a bloke in nails and heels well enough alone – oh well, their loss.
So I got home and soaked/filed them off in short order, and found that I had actually torn my natrual nail back behind the quick on the side – not all the way across, but about a quarter way. I figure I’ll just keep them trimmed back until the split can be trimmed off, but dayum! That was PAINFUL! OW!!!!
Now this is one awesome ankle boot!
This is ome of their few selections available in a 13W, so I had to snap them up online. When I got them from the store, I was in 7th heaven all over again. The heel is a perfect height for daily wear, the fabric is nice and soft, and they just look hot under jeans! These are SO included in my daily wear – especially after getting some nice compliments from my colleagues and friends.
Guys and gals, if you get the chance before the season is out, GET this find! You won’t regret it.
Well, the PC got fixed one day later and all is well – yes! I managed to get my latest order for cute boots placed this morning, although I experience the usual roadblock of the website not recognizing my zip code! WTF? They have 3 stores here, but MY zip code isn’t right? Oh well…one call, and it got placed, so win for me!
Today’s actually going GOOD so far! I’m crossing my fingers I don’t jinx it now. hee hee
