Well, this is it! This week will be the big move! I can’t wait! I have about a third of my bedroom packed up, my “Imelda Marcos closet” has been cleaned out save the ones I want to wear this week, then tomorrow night, all the software and drawing stuff gets put into boxes. It seems a majority of my stuff either has to do with fashion or art in some way. Hmmmm *grin*……..
Tuesday, we get the key to the new place, so we’ll be packing and schlepping that day, and then Thursday is the BIG moving day (when we get the truck and all). If ya wanna come by and help out – great! If you wanna come by and just hang out and talk while we pack – that’s great too! Ah do love the company.
The “shedding” part of my post is that “The Nail Files” acrylic training diary is coming to a close, as I’m having the acrylic removed soon, so I’ll be going back to what my fingers produce naturally (plus polish of course). It’s just an expense I don’t need right now, and can always do again later should the mood strike me. It’s just a choice – nothing more. No one talked me into it, forced me into it – none of that, so don’t think anything harsh of anyone…..it’s just a necessary sacrifice for the sake of getting a nicer place.
Oh, and the new shoes I won on eBay are just divine!!! They’re definitely one of my new favorite pairs to wear under my jeans. Just flat out sharp in my opinion. Yay, another victory!
I’ve said it before, and I’m gonna say it again………
If you’re going to do any sort of alternative fashion – whether it be heels, clothes, makeup, nails, whatever….if you want to do it, then just DO it already! You can be flashy, you can be professional, you can be however you want to be, because it’s just outer layers on top of your body – it’s how you put it all together, paired with your confidence that makes or breaks the look. The ladies have been doing this for years, and have never had a problem. The harder hurdle is going the other way, but it can be done. There is nothing that says you can’t pull off a new look as long as you go about it seriously.
One thing to keep in mind, is that people will notice – yes, they do. Of course they will. Anything that doesn’t look like anything else will attract attention – it always does and always will. The trick is to not really care. You made the decision, you made the effort, and the only question you should ask yourself is………do you want to do it? If so, then just GO already and DO it! Nothing is gained by being just a sheep in the herd. I’ve found some nice moderate styles in my clothing that lets me complement my existing wardrobe with my own personal taste, and it’s worked wonders – both appearance-wise, and boosted my own self-esteem. I didn’t notice it at first outside of my own willpower and just not caring what others think, but my friends have told me I’m a lot happier these days, and more relaxed. It really does do wonders for one’s self-worth.
I do feel much better this year, and think things are continuing to fall into place. And my happiness? It’s continuing to climb as well! For me, this was definitely the right thing to do.
Next week is another move. One thing I can say about moves is….live LIGHT! It’ll make moving easier! I think as I go along, my life is like a katamari – I just keep collecting stuff, and it grows beyond measure. I’m looking forward to more space in a house, but it’s the getting crap ready and moving it over that’s the real pain in the butt. This weekend is the condensing and packing extravaganza, and then next week sometime will begin the move.
I feel like those guys doing the rig move on Ice Road Truckers. Just way too much stuff left, and the time is running out. Of course, no one ever finds out about a place a month in advance – nope! It’s always less than 2 weeks away, they won’t hold it another month, and if you’re going to do it, you have to do it NOW.
I’ve gotten a little support, and I’ve gotten a lot of flak about the move – why? Because of where it is. It’s on the south side of town – the deep south. Although….I drive through the area in the daytime and at night, and I don’t see what everyone is talking about. Just like any other neighborhood, there are nice places, and not so nice places – it’s all about how well you take care of your place – do you just patch stuff back together, or do you actually fix it?
I’ll just be glad once all the schlepping is done……..
I did up my calendar wall print and also made a framed wall print of my new piece – “The Triumvirate”.

They actually turned out better than I thought! 🙂
Yesterday was kinda fun and funny in some parts, as I decided to wear my Moda Spana slingbacks to work since it was a slow day, and under jeans, they look like ivory-coloured boots. The sad part is the footbed lining is very weak and started to curl up during the day, so when I took them off at night, they started to separate inside (this is that lining that your foot is on top of – kinda like the pre-made insole) – rather disappointing for a brand that’s supposedly good fashion, but oh well – they still wear well.
For the first time in over 5 months, last night, one of my friends asked me if I was wearing “girlie shoes”, which I kinda had to chuckle to, as I told her I always wear heels. I guess the slightly narrower toebox kinda made her think twice. After that night, I realized they’re not the most comfortable pair for long endurance anyway, so I’ll just leave them in the weekend section. I’m working on acquiring some better boots soon anyway. You never know what works and what doesn’t unless you experiment. I did buy some kick-ass 2 1/2″ mary-janes from Payless for my weekend outings too, which were way too cute to pass up!
Does it dissuade me from wearing what I like? HECK NO – why should it? Why am I writing about it? I thought it was kind of funny. So it’s back to my usual black 4-inchers, and thinking about when my 3D render finally finishes (it’s at 80% after 24 hours, but it’s a big frickin’ print).
My 2009 calendar will be getting done either this month or next, so I’ll post a direct link once it’s done. For now, I have other stuff on my site at http://www.cafepress.com/sqpalace
Not much else new going on, so time to go get ready for yet another exciting day – heh – yeah, right. Glad I have some good books to read. *grin*
I’ve started posting images of the different colours and colour combinations I’ve been trying online in case anyone might want to try these shades as well.

Okay, so I’m not the fastest music fan on the planet, but I went and got 2 new songs for my Mari collection from cdfreedom.com, and they are awesome! Mari put them on the site for sale because, quite simply, they are not ON any album available to date.
Check out http://www.cdfreedom.com/mariiijima
The first song – Temperature – I first heard when I met Mari at Nan Desu Kan in 2000 when she put it in for a group of us to hear. I loved it back then, and I love it now!
The other song – Sweet Talkin’ Guy – is a fun poppy song that is just too cute to resist. I’ve not heard the full song before today, but am glad I did.
Yes, the songs are $1.25 each, but they are DRM-free like Amazon, so you don’t have to worry about that crippling software that some sites have.
No, don’t ask me for them. Get ’em yourself and you’ll see just how amazing these slightly older treasures are – then go get her newest stuff!
